Here's my thinking

Not everyone asks the same thing

Underneath the way each of us thinks, there's a question we can't stop asking. Most of the time we don't hear it - it runs in the background, shaping what we notice and how we interpret information.

Each mode of thinking has a question at its core.

  • The Analytical thinker asks: Is it true?
  • The Logistical thinker asks: How does this get done?
  • The Conceptual thinker asks: Is there another way?
  • The Relational thinker asks: How will this affect people?

If one of those felt more familiar than the others - that's worth paying attention to. Though you probably didn't land on only one. Most people are led by two or three modes rather than a single one, which means two or three of these questions are running at once - sometimes in agreement, sometimes contradictory.

The mental questions that are not our own can feel puzzling. It's why the same conversation can feel like progress to one person and like avoidance to another. They are asking different questions at the same moment.

Discovering the questions that guide your thinking is the beginning of your free Modes Profile, and it goes further from there - the tension you navigate, when you thrive, what quietly drains you - each one describing your particular thinking combination. Modes is free, and it only takes a few minutes.

If you've completed it already, I'd love to hear what resonated most.
