Analytical is not Logistical

For a long time I assumed that Analytical and Logistical thinking came together. Both are rational. Both are interested in data, evidence and proof. So if someone was good with the numbers, I assumed they were good with the plan, and the other way around. But Analytical and Logistical thinking are distinctly different.

Analytical thinking asks whether the information holds up. Logistical thinking pays attention to how that information is organized and sequenced. One wants to know where the number came from. The other wants to know what happens first, and what comes after that.

There's no correlation between the two. You can be high in one and low in the other. High in both. Or, as in my case, high in neither.

Two people who both seem data-driven may be thinking in very different ways. The person who checks whether every figure is right and the person who can hold a sequence in their head are often treated as the same kind of thinker.

They aren't the same, and they don't want the same things from us.
