The Cognitive Sequence Method
I came across an old copy of The Jeffrey Method, a template I used to hand out in my workshops over a decade ago. Some of you may even have one tucked away somewhere. It was built around a simple idea that is just as relevant today - the order of information shapes how communication is understood.
I developed it because I noticed that most people struggle with clarity when they speak. We often communicate in the way our brain defaults to, rather than the sequence our audience needs. Influence comes from structuring ideas in a way that works for all modes of processing.
Over time, my approach evolved into what is now called the Cognitive Sequence Method™. I still believe it's the most useful framework I've ever created. We've now built it into an online tool that guides you through the same structure to organize your thinking before you speak.
I've used this method with tens of thousands of professionals and I've seen it consistently improve how leaders and speakers communicate across a wide range of situations - from presentations to job interviews, difficult team conversations, and first-time pitches.
I'm sharing it with all of you first because I appreciate each person on this list - whether you were in one of my sessions years ago or you've more recently come across my work and are exploring these ideas for the first time.
This version is free to use. If your team or organization would like to integrate the method into leadership development or communication training, feel free to get in touch.
